Apple Introduces the New Apple Watch Hermès Collection

This article is more than 8 years old.

The Apple Watch now has a timeless new look.

Introduced earlier today during Apple’s yearly September presentation, the Apple Watch Hermès collection marks a bold new collaboration between the tech giant and the 178-year-old French luxury house. Melding the unparalleled innovation of Apple with the heritage and exquisite craftsmanship of Hermès, the partnership solidifies the Apple Watch’s status as a luxury item.

The new line showcases three exclusive dial designs modeled on iconic Hermès timepieces—Clipper, Cape Cod, and Espace—each paired with a stainless steel case that features an etching of the brand’s signature.

And of course there are the leather bands, which will be familiar to any Hermès addict.

Starting at $1,100, the “Single Tour” embodies classic Hermès design with a nod to its equestrian roots. Sporting a buckle that mirrors the straps of a horse’s saddle, the timepiece is available in 38mm and 42mm stainless steel cases.

The watch is paired with an Hermès leather strap that comes in Fauve and Noir (the 38mm also comes in Capucine).

The “Double Tour”—priced at $1,250—showcases an extra-long band that wraps twice around the wrist, matched with a 38mm stainless steel case. The band comes in four colors: Fauve, Etain, Capucine, and Bleu Jean.

Inspired by equestrian hardware, the “Cuff” was engineered to allow the Apple Watch’s heart rate sensor to remain in contact with the wrist.

Priced at $1,500, the piece comes in a 42mm stainless steel case complemented by a band crafted with Hermès’ signature leather, available in Fauve.

“Apple and Hermès make very different products, but they reflect the deep appreciation of quality design,” said Jonathan Ive, Apple’s chief design officer, in a press release. “Both companies are motivated by a sincere pursuit of excellence and the desire to create something that is not compromised. Apple Watch Hermès is a true testament to that belief.”

Adds Pierre-Alexis Dumas, Hermès executive vice president in charge of artistic direction, “I see it as the establishment of an alliance in excellence; like the horse and carriage, a perfect team.”
